Woodie Awards 2013: Tegan & Sarah, Machine Gun Kelly to Co-Host; Macklemore & Ryan Lewis Perform SXSW Show with Twenty One Pilots

MTV announced today who will be hosting their 2013 mtvU Woodie Awards... and the winners are: Tegan & Sarah and Machine Gun Kelly (who are both also nominees).

Indie pop's favorite sister duo Tegan and Sara are teaming up with Cleveland rapper Machine Gun Kelly to co-host this years Woodie Awards, with the show set to air on MTV and mtvU on March 17th at 8 p.m.

As Rolling Stone notes, the show itself will take place in Austin, Texas on March 14th during SXSW, and the 2013 mtvU Woodie Awards will then take over the night beginning at 8 p.m. with a host of "hardware hand-outs" and performances by Macklemore and Ryan Lewis. Newly announced performers joining the lineup include Twenty One Pilots, who scored a nomination for the "Breaking Woodie" award, along with Haim.

Also performing at the festival during the day will be British indie acts Alt-J and Jake Bugg, as well rappers Trinidad James, Pusha T, Travi$ Scott and Joey Bada$$.  Additional performers will be announced soon, MTV reports.

The nominee co-hosts are honored as well as excited to announce the Woodie awards show :

"This will be our first time at the 'mtvU Woodie Awards,' so we couldn't be more excited to be making our debut as co-hosts and nominees for the Tag Team Woodie for our song Body Work with Morgan Page!," said Tegan and Sara. "Wow! It's a good thing they got Machine Gun Kelly to step in as our tri-host(?) because no one else would be able to get a word in edgewise. See you in Austin!"

MGK, a little shocked, stated "I think the first thing we all are thinking is, 'wow, I can't believe MTV trusted MGK to actually co-host something like this,'" he said. "And then the second thought is, 'f--k yeah MTV for trusting MGK to co-host something like this!!!' The only thing I've ever hosted was parties so it looks like this year will have to be a party!"

Besides the co-hosts, some other nominees at this year's Woodies include A$AP Rocky, Kendrick Lamar, Fun., Grimes, Walk the Moon and Edward Sharpe and the Magnetic Zeroes who are all in the race for the "coveted" Woodie of the Year award. Woodie Award voting runs through March 14 at 4 p.m.
