Arrow and The Flash are firmly established in the DC TV universe and Supergirl is just taking off, but fans still have DC's Legends of Tomorrow to look forward to in just a few months. Now we have yet another reason to get excited with the rumor that Matt Ryan's John Constantine will join the show in Season 2!
Bleeding Cool reported on Thanksgiving Day that some characters from The Flash would appear on Supergirl toward the end of the latter show's first season. Via those same sources, the site later reported that DC's Legends of Tomorrow would follow an intriguing format throughout its run.
According to the site, the spinoff series "is planning to radically switch casts and missions each season." Bleeding Cool used the Justice League Unlimited cartoon as a model. If you recall, that series focused on different superheroes in each of its various episodes.
However, that's not all, as the site also reported that the brains behind the DC TV universe have plans for Matt Ryan to join Season 2 of DC's Legends of Tomorrow to reprise his role of John Constantine as a series regular in 2017. Ryan played the character for 13 episodes in the canceled NBC series Constantine in 2014.
The character returned in a Season 4 episode of Arrow entitled "Haunted," when Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) called in a favor and asked for Constantine's help in restoring the soul of Sara Lance (Caity Lotz), who had been brought back to life via the Lazarus Pit. We also learned that Oliver and Constantine had met briefly during Ollie's time on the island of Lian Yu.
To add a cherry to the top of all this, Bleeding Cool reports that DC's Legends of Tomorrow wants to cast Steven R McQueen, who plays Jeremy Gilbert on The Vampire Diaries, as another new hero during Season 2.
