'Love & Hip Hop New York' Mendeecees Harris Sentenced to 8 Years in Prison

Bad news Love & Hip Hop New York fans: The couple that we have all grown to love is being torn apart again. According to the Rochester Democrat & Chronicle, Mendeecees Harris was sentenced to eight years in prison today on federal drug trafficking charges.

In April, Harris pleaded guilty in order to accept a plea deal. The deal required him to plead guilty to narcotics conspiracy in exchange for an 8-to 10-year prison sentence and a $15 thousand to $5 million fine. Harris' charges stemmed from his involvement in a cocaine and heroin ring in upstate New York that brought in millions of dollars.

He has been currently out on $600,000 bail since earlier this year. Unfortunately, the bail agreement he received demanded that his earnings from the show along with his paid public appearances be forfeited to the federal government. The publication has reported that the amount was more than $100,000 in April and has grown to $170,000 to date.

Harris, who is married to co-star Yandy Smith, has four children. Smith is known and loved for being a strong and independent woman, but we know this big change is going to be a difficult one for the family.

Season six of Love & Hip Hop New York will premiere on VH1 Dec. 14 at 8/7c. Harris will be on the season with his family as they lead up to his sentencing. This season is going to be an emotional one, but certainly one worth watching. Make sure you tune in to see it all unfold.
