Deepika Padukone will be soon share the screen with her rumored boyfriend Ranveer Singh in Sanjay Leela Bhansali's period romance drama Bajirao Mastani. After becoming one of the finest actresses in Bollywood at this moment, the Tamasha star has expressed her wish to produce a film.
With the success of Imtiaz Ali's Tamasha, Padukone, 29, is busy with promotions of Bajirao Mastani. In a recent interview, the actress has revealed that she wants to turn into a producer. The star was quoted by NDTV Movies, "I want to venture into production and be a producer or line producer some day because I feel I have that kind of personality."
The actress further added that this career choice is not for any momentary profit or getting any further recognition.
"I just don't want to get involved in any kind of business in context of cinema. Profit, loss, box office, none of that," she added.
In the interview, when asked if given a chance to have produced one of her films, the actress said Piku, Love Aaj Kal, Cocktail and Tamasha, as they all are very dear to her.
"It would be Piku, Love Aaj Kal, Cocktail and Tamasha because these films are very close to my heart and they are special for me," Deepika answered.
If Padukone becomes a producer, she won't be the first A-list actress from Bollywood who chose this career move. Earlier it was Anushka Sharma who produced and starred in Navdeep Singh's NH10. The film was made against a budget of $1.9 million and it earned $4.9 million from the box-office collection. So, considering the past records, becoming a producer will be a nice move from Padukone's end.
Padukone was recently seen in Ali's Tamasha, where she played the role of Taara who helps Ved (Ranbir Kapoor) find his true destiny. According to India Today, the film has earned more than $7 million in just four days.
Padukone's Bajirao Mastani is set to release on Dec. 18, 2015.
