Model Gigi Hadid's younger sister, Bella Hadid strutted the runway for the House of Chanel's 12th Metier d'Art fall/winter 2016 yesterday with popular models Lindsey Wixon, Freja Erichsen, Lara Stone and Jamie Bochert at Cinecettà studio in Rome. A creative backdrop of a fake Parisian paved street with a bistro and cafe style tables, chairs and storefronts evoked the set.
Prior to the model squad hitting the scenic set, the invitees viewed a debut screening of head designer, Karl Lagerfeld's 10-minute film titled Once and Forever starring Geraldine Chaplin and Kristen Stewart. The Twilight actress portrayed a tempermental character of Coco Chanel in what People described as a "precious gem" who became a "full-blown terror on set."
Once the short film ended, 19-year old Bella captivated the audience, adorning two outfits that were a mix of chic and elegance. One of the '60s style outfits were in monochromed black and white and patent leather, combined with a movie camera handbag with lace embroidered stockings.
The models paraded around in a Brigitte Bardot inspired bouffant hairstyle. Yes, the smokey-eyed makeup with heavy eyeliner is back in! They all looked glamorous in tweet and wool, floral patterns and in solids.
The Daily Mail reported that the most popular model walked "through the Parisian streets was Lara Stone, 31, who looked beautiful in Lagerfeld's creations including a brightly coloured orange and yellow boucle suit at the 'Paris-Rome' themed show."
Hadid's biggest challenge is to not be compared to her older sister Gigi, since they both are embarking on their own path in the modeling industry. She told Seventeen magazine exclusively, "I just have to remind myself that she's been doing this forever." And says, "I can't keep comparing myself to her because we're so different. But people still love to compare and contrast us - what's better about her or what's not that good about me - and it's hard because people are really mean. But I'm her biggest supporter, and she's my biggest supporter. We're not competitive at all."
