"Jessie's Girl" singer, Rick Springfield, was arrested Friday after skipping out on a court date related to a 2011 DUI conviction in Malibu, reports The Malibu Times. In what he said was a big misunderstanding, the singer was taken to the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff's Station, which he called "my home away from home" via Twitter today.

Springfield, who lives in Malibu, was supposedly supposed to appear in court in February to prove he had completed a court-ordered alcohol education program. The program was part of a plea deal with prosecutors made in order to avoid jail time, states Malibu Times. However, Springfield failed to show up and sheriff's deputies issued a "bench warrant" for his arrest Wednesday. Deputies appeared at Springfield's Malibu home Friday and took him into custody at the Malibu/Lost Hills Sheriff's Station.

Rick was also supposed to pay $1,555 in fines, states TMZ.

Rick posted an update on his Facebook from the Lost Hills sheriff station, writing, "I didn't know that I was supposed appear in court a few weeks ago. It was to do with the old DUI charge and it's been cleared up and I am free to go."

Springfield's DUI arrest was back in May 2011, reports TMZ. Cops pulled over the singer's 1963 Corvette Stingray in Malibu and smelled booze. Law enforcement sources told TMZ Rick threatened to kill the deputy and his family if he had the car towed.

He pleaded no contest to a misdemeanor reckless driving charge with "driving under the influence conditions" last August and received three years of informal probation, reports Yahoo news. He was required to attend a mandatory three-month alcohol education program, which he was supposed to prove in court in February and failed to do so.

As stated on his Twitter bio, Rick Springfield has sold over 19 million records with a whopping 17 top-40 hits. He has performed for millions of fans over the last three decades.

He also has a show tonight at Eagle Mountain Casino in Porterville, California, and he tells fans the arrest won't affect the gig. The show must go on!
