Season 11 of Bones is just days away from airing its winter finale on Fox. Because of the recent lawsuit claims by David Boreanaz (Seeley Booth) and Emily Deschanel (Temperance Brennan), does this mean Season 12 of Bones has already been cancelled?
As we previously mentioned, novelist/executive producer Kathy Reichs joins the main leads as they filed a lawsuit against 20th Century Television, Fox and their affiliations for shortchanging their profits from the show. In their allegations, the plaintiffs are arguing that they haven't seen adequate funds from Fox after full, current seasons have aired on Hulu. The lawsuit claims that the arrangement, known as "stacking," made it possible for Netflix to pay less for episodes than it otherwise would have.
According to TV Line, though the winter finale of Bones airs on December 10, the long-running procedural is suspiciously missing in action from Fox network's 2016 midseason schedule. Should this insight cause fans to worry whether or not this lawsuit will negatively impact the show's future. A source close to the show reveals it is still unclear if the suit will have an adverse effect on a potential 12th season.
In an interview with E! Online, The Angel actor explains why he thinks it's time for Booth to pack it in, "For me, personally, I think it's time. I think that 11 seasons is great. I mean, one season is great! I don't really count it as seasons but what we've given to the show and what we can do, for me it's great to see the show come to an end and do it the way we want to do it."
The ratings for the Fox drama picked up during the Bones/Sleepy Hollow crossover. Could the rest of the eleventh season make their way back during summer 2016? What's the mood like between cast and crew during work hours? We can only speculate that the mood has certainly changed and that there's a possibility the show might not find closure.
The 2 hour Bones midseason finale airs Thursday, December 10, on Fox at 8pm.
Readers, do you think Bones still has one more season left?
