Lil' Kim is suing her lawyer, claiming that she was tricked into signing away over half of her earnings from licensing and branding.

The suit is asking for $1 million in damages. The 38-year-old rapper claims that lawyer and businessman Sunny Barkats pulled the wool over her eyes with a series of confusing agreements. Kim claims that Barkats negotiated the deals so that he and partner Andrew Ro received 44% of all of the revenue Kim's corporation generated.

Kim says that she figured out the unscrupulous deals in December of 2012, but Barkats refuses to nullify them, calling the lawsuit a "frivolous" attempt at reneging on a contract.

Kim, born Kimberly Denise Jones, came to fame at the same time as fellow Brooklynite MC The Notorious B.I.G. as a part of Biggie's Junior M.A.F.I.A group.

Kim's solo debut, 1996's Hard Core, was certified double platinum and spawned three #1 singles. She released two more platinum albums before fading from the public eye on the way to a 2005 prison stint. Kim released several poorly received albums before returning to the scene with an appearance on Dancing with the Stars and a highly publicized feud with Nicki Minaj that began when Lil Kim accused Minaj of stealing her style. Minaj fired back claiming that Kim's entire success was based on feuds with different rappers.

"She picked a fight with Foxy, then she picked a fight with Eve, then she picked a fight a fight with Remy, then it was Mrs. Wallace, then it was Nicki Minaj," said Minaj on the Angie Martinez Show. "Every time you in the news, it's 'cause you gettin' at somebody! Where's your music?

What do you think? Was Lil Kim swindled by Sunny Barkats? Does Barkats owe Kim compensation? Or should Kim have been more careful about what she signed?
