Katie Holmes has been pulling double duty these days. In addition to acting in the 2015 film Woman in Gold, as well as portraying Paige Finney in the third season of Ray Donovan, it seems the Batman Begins actress is yelling "action" just as much as she's reacting to it. The 36-year-old is directing, as well as appearing, in the upcoming film All We Had, based on the Annie Weatherwax's novel, which is the story of a mother's struggle to make a better life for her daughter.
In discussing her directing debut Holmes recently told People, "I was actually on both sides (of the camera), it was an undertaking, but the movie was produced by Jane Rosenthal and you couldn't ask for a better producer, so I felt very taken care of." When asked if calling the shots on the set was challenging she responded, "Very much so! But very, very rewarding."
Rosenthal is of course Robert DeNiro's partner at the Tribeca Film Festival, which last April screened Eternal Princess, a short documentary about famed gymnast Nadia Commaneci, which was co-directed by Holmes.
The Dawson's Creek star joins a very elite list of actresses-turned-directors including Jodie Foster, whose directing credits include The Beaver and Home for the Holidays; Angelina Jolie, whose credits include By The Sea and Unbroken; and Courteney Cox, who directed episodes of Cougar Town as well as the recent film Just Before I Go.
The ex-wife of Tom Cruise, who has now been linked to Jamie Fox, will continue pulling double duty when she reprises her role as Jacqueline Onassis in next year's sequel to The Kennedys, appropriately titled The Kennedys After Camelot, which she'll also direct. As she continued her interview with People, Holmes claimed, "Hopefully you just get better every time you do it. That's what I'm hoping for."
