Taylor Swift made the dreams of one 10-year-old come true on Saturday by visiting her in the hospital. The "I Knew You Were Trouble" singer stopped in Omaha, Nebraska to visit Lauren Hacker, who is suffering from leukemia.
Swift became aware of Hacker via a YouTube video created by her parents chronicling the young girl's illness. In the video, the lyrics to Swift's "You Belong With Me" are changed to be about Hacker. A meeting between the two was lobbied for on social media sites according to the Omaha Herald.
Hacker's father, Phil Hacker, wrote on his blog of the crooner's visit to his daughter's room at the Omaha Children's Hospital & Medical Center .
"She spent about an hour chatting with Lauren," he said. Lauren Hacker apparently played Swift a song on her own electric keyboard and said that "Taylor was very impressed."
The singer told Hacker about how she got her start in music and gave the young girl a goodie bag filled with autographed notebooks, photos and guitar picks.
"It was a great afternoon for everyone and I'm sure Lauren will remember it for many years to come," Hacker wrote.
Swift will kick off the North American leg of her World Tour on Wednesday at Omaha's CenturyLink Center.
