New Batman Mythology: DC Entertainment Giving Bruce Wayne A New Look? 'Legends of the Knight' Documentary Seeks San Diego Comic-Con Release

It looks like DC Entertainment is going to be taking a long look into Bruce Wayne's past. According to the Associated Press, the Batman mythology is getting a "new boost." DC Entertainment will be taking a closer look into Gotham's caped crusader's past to see how Bruce Wayne transforms into Batman.

According to "Batman" writer Scott Snyder this isn't a redo on what has been done before. Instead, it sounds like he will just be going into further detail on Bruce Wayne's past and how he found his calling as a crime fighter dressed up in a Batman suit.

The decision was made on the success of DC's "New 52," which gave many of the comic book publisher's superheroes revised origins and costumes that blended the originals with new looks. So how much will Batman's past be changed in the June release of the "Batman" comics? Fans will have to wait and see. The AP is reporting the 11-issue story being called "The Year Zero" will be illustrated by Greg Capullo.

Snyder told Yahoo News through the Associated Press, "We tried to preserve as much of Batman's history as we could and keep what we could of this history intact.  It's 'The Zero Year,' the one that no one has told the story of before. We see how Bruce became the Batman, built the cave, faced off with his first super villain."

Snyder continues by saying, "It's time for a new story showing how Batman became who he is in the New 52...It builds up the mythology."

Batman has been in the news a lot recently between the comic books and movies. According to The Hollywood Reporter, a new documentary is being created through over $60,000 in funds generated through donations. The documentary tells the story of fans, writers, and other industry figures who drew inspiration from Batman. The movie is titled "Legends of the Knight," features interviews with some of the superhero's most influential creators. It also talks with Batman fans who have used the character to overcome their own adversity.

The film raised $34,000 through Kickstarter and the creators hope to have the movie finished by this July in time for the San Diego Comic-Con.
