Yoko Ono and Sean Lennon have a lot of celebrity friends and they have enlisted their help in a new anti-fracking music video that first debuted on "Late Night With Jimmy Fallon" last summer. The video features celebrities such as Liv Tyler, Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Maggie Gyllenhaal, Fred Armisen and Susan Sarandon. The song is the latest attempt to try to persuade New York Governor Andrwe Cuomo to not allow gas companies to use hydraulic fracturing in New York state.

The music video is very catchy and also quite funny. The title of the song "Don't Frack My Mother," alludes to some of the humor used in the music video. In addition to shots of celebrities talking into their computer camera's, the video supplies facts about hydraulic fracking. Viewers may also find it humorous to see Yoko Ono interjecting throughout the video saying "Don't frack me."

The song is an entry into the "Artists Against Fracking" campaign trying to sway Governor Cuomo's opinion. The video also includes musical artists such as the Strokes, Wilco, and the Black Keys. Fracking involves injecting water, sand and chemicals into underground rock to free vast reserves of gas. As noted in the video, there have been documented cases of leaking gas ruining nearby well water that has caused pollution.

Yoko Ono and her son Sean Lennon have a reason to fight against fracking in New York State as their farm reportedly sits near gas reserves and their area may be one that is used for the new venture. However, fracking isn't all bad. Reports say it has resulted in more jobs, reduced imports of oil and gas, and lower energy bills.

The New York Department of Environmental Conservation is re-proposing regulations on hydraulic fracturing, giving the public 45 days to voice their opinions. Governor Cuomo originally postponed a decision to hydraulic fracking until February, but then missed a deadline further delaying regulations.
