Weeks after Tyson Fury defeated Wladimir Klitschko in a world championship heavyweight bout in Dusseldorf, he's once again in the news -- this time for a less spectacular achievement. Fury has made several startling comments on a number of issues, but one particular moment is at the forefront of concern: his insensitivity toward a father in need. Fury was recently nominated for BBC Sports Personality of the Year, but many didn't see him fit for such an honor after certain comments, and have since made their voices heard. Fury isn't remaining silent though, he's fighting back at those who criticize him.
"Tyson Fury should be stripped of his BBC Sports Personality of the Year nomination," said Andrew Jones, the father of a murdered Liverpool teenager. Jones had previously reached out to Fury in an attempt to shed light on his son's case, via the Mirror. But Fury refused to help.
According to the Mirror, dozens of celebrities have helped publicize the unsolved killing of Andrew Jones' son, who's also named Andrew, was 18 when he was killed on a night out 12 years ago. But when Fury was asked for a retweet to "help get justice for Andrew," he replied, "I'm not grass."
The comment, made over a year ago, outraged Andrew's father. The remark is being highlighted after Fury's recent comments over alleged sexism and homophobia. An online petition has been started to remove Fury from the list for Sports Personality Award -- a list that has already collected about some 80,000 signatures.
Mr. Jones is among those backing the petition.
"I am totally outraged that Tyson Fury has been nominated for a sports personality award," said Mr. Jones via The Mirror. "It was only last year that I asked him on Twitter to retweet my son's murder to help highlight the case, he replied with: 'I am not a grass.' That shows what level this man operates at."
In a ringside interview, Fury discussed the petition against him, as well as other allegations, including his alleged sexist claims, and the negative press he's been receiving. The interview was perhaps highlighted by Fury telling the interviewer that his critics could suck his, well...you know how that goes. Although, his remarks toward the petitioners were perhaps equally as colorful.

WARNING: GRAPHIC LANGUAGE
While Fury remains nominated for the Sports Personality of the Year award, his invitation to attend the event has since been revoked, but not over his comments toward Mr. Jones, or even his homophobic slurs. He claimed that paedophilia was legalized by a fictional Gay Rights Act 1977. Even so, BBC has resisted the pressure to rescind his nomination for the ward.
