"Ellen DeGeneres Show" Renewed through 2017: NBC Picks up Daytime Talk Show for 4 More Years

The "Ellen DeGeneres Show" has been renewed by NBC for another four years! First airing 10 years ago in 2003, comedian Ellen DeGeneres' daytime talk show has been dancing its way to the top and just got picked up by the network through the 2016-2017 season, reports Entertainment Weekly.

"Ellen" is the No. 1 nationally syndicated talk show (tied with "Dr. Phil") for the past season, and has seen a surge in ratings this past season, TODAY states. It is no wonder that 189 television stations, including the 10 owned by NBC, have committed to airing the show for the next four years.

"Ellen is quite simply the best," said Ken Werner, president of Warner Bros. Domestic Television Distribution, in a press release.  "Day in and day out she and her team produce a unique and compelling hour of entertainment which is appointment television for legions of women. "

Valari Staab, president of the NBC-owned TV stations, described the show as the "crown jewel" of NBC's daytime lineup. He added that "'Ellen' is the top choice for women 25-54 in her time period in seven of our markets, including New York, Los Angeles and Chicago, this season. We are proud and thrilled to extend our relationship with Ellen DeGeneres, all the great people working on her show and our friends at Warner Bros."

During its 10 seasons, the show has earned an impressive total of 38 Daytime Emmy Awards, with DeGeneres winning 13 People's Choice Awards and four Teen Choice Awards. The show has also won two Genesis Awards and a GLAAD Media Award for "Outstanding Talk Show Episode, reports Extra TV.
