Kevin Durant, forward for the Oklahoma City Thunder, is a superstar in the NBA. His height, paired with his smooth jumper and expert handles, make him a mismatch for virtually every defender he encounters. Sometimes, he even brings defenders to the floor. On Wednesday, he made someone fall to the floor again. This time, however, no ankles were harmed in the process. Durant presented $35,000 to Positive Tomorrows in Oklahoma City, an elementary school serving homeless children, and one particular kid was just too darn excited.
Durant walked into classroom No. 108 to surprise the kids with his presence. One young boy toppledto the ground after first seeing the basketball star. It was, quite possibly, the best thing ever caught on camera.
According to NewsOK, this was the third time Durant has donated to the school. He said the school caught his eye while doing research a few years back. The donation made by Durant will be put to good use too. The school will be using the money to help stock food, while also building a kitchen of its own.
When asked what his motivation was to donate, Durant had this to say, via NewsOK:
"They needed some help and, simple, I just wanted to help them. I've been here and seen the impact it's had on these kids and I just wanted to help even more."
"I can remember when I was that age and I wanted somebody to come and talk to us when I was a kid. We never thought it was possible. So just wanted to provide that for kids coming up now. Kids are the future."
While Duran'ts efforts off the court have been spectacular, his team's performance on the court has been less inspiring. The Thunder are off to a 13-8 start, which is good enough for third place in the Western Conference, but Durant knows they can do better.
"We just want to play good basketball," Durant said, via NewsOK. "It's been a tough start to the season up to our standards, and we want to be better. We've got to know that we can't just waste games, but at the same time we know we've got to use these games to keep growing."
