"Monday Night Raw" results from the March 11, 2013 show at Bankers Life Fieldhouse in Indianapolis, IN featured various tributes to Paul Bearer aka William Moody who passed away March 5. The show also included the return of Chris Jericho to "Raw" along with the Undertaker and Brock Lesnar. Fans also got to see an appearance from "The Call's" Halle Berry in a funny skit with David Otunga and Kane. However, why was there no John Cena or Rock on a "Raw" show leading up to "WrestleMania 29?"
The show opened with the Undertaker coming out to pay tribute to Paul Bearer. A lot of the show featured tributes (some taped, some live) to Undertaker's former manager. Of course WWE used his real life passing as an opportunity to fuel a storyline. C.M Punk interrupted Undertaker's tribute leading to a match with Kane, who attacked Punk during the commercial break, later in the night.
The first match of the night was Big Show versus the Shield's Seth Rollins. This was the first time a member of the Shield was competing in a singles match. It quickly turned into a three on one though, and after a disqualification, the Shield power bombed the Big Show, laying him out. The three man power bomb on the Big Show was impressive.
Daniel Bryan faced Dolph Ziggler in what was a rather long, but very good match. AJ ended up distracting Bryan allowing Ziggler to pick up the win. Finally Ziggler wins a match!
Fandango almost wrestled again tonight. Tensai didn't pronounce his name correctly so instead Fandango danced his way back to the locker room. I am enjoying this Fandango character more and more.
The Rhode Scholars faced the New Age Outlaws next. The match was interrupted by Brock Lesnar who annihilated Road Dogg and Billy Gunn before Paul Heyman announced they would accept Triple H's offer to fight at "WrestleMania 29." There is only one catch, Brock Lesnar gets to pick the stipulation.
There also was a great segment before the match where the Rhode Scholars did their own version of the Outlaws introduction. It was highly entertaining. In a backstage segment after the match, Cody Rhodes was trying to hit on Kaitlyn before Damian Sandow interrupted them with the Bella Twins.
Mark Henry beat Kofi Kingston fairly easily, followed by a easy Ryback win over Heath Slater. Henry and Ryback shared a stare down in the middle of the ring.
Alberto Del Rio defeated Antonio Cesaro by submission. The Rhode Scholars faced Sheamus and Randy Orton next. Vicki Guerrero put them in another match because their first match was interrupted by Lesnar. A very good tag match finished in a pin fall victory for Sheamus and Orton. During the break The Shield attacked and laid out Sheamus and Orton.
Chris Jericho is up next for his "Highlight Reel" segment with Miz and Wade Barret. This segment was awful until Brad Maddox came out and ordered a match between Jericho and the Miz. This match ended up turning into a three man battle with Wade Barret eventually receiving both Miz and Jericho's main moves in the ring.
Jack Swagger defeats Sin Cara after another painful promo by Zeb Colter. Del Rio comes out and attacks Swagger before Colter drags Swagger out of the ring. Is it just me or is this feud really lacking something?
WWE manages to get Halle Berry to be involved in a taped segment with David Otunga and Kane. It's actually a very funny segment.
The main event between C.M. Punk and Kane was a very good match. It was strange seeing Kane back in the main event scene as a singles wrestler. Towards the end of a solid main event match, the Undertaker's gong sound goes off distracting Punk and allowing Kane to pick up the win with a chokeslam. Punk; however, attacks Kane with Paul Bearer's urn after the match and runs away from the Undertaker. The show closes with a C.M. Punk and Undertaker stare down.
Overall I thought it was an ok "Raw." However, I find it interesting that neither The Rock or John Cena were at "Raw." Seems to be a peculiar choice given that they likely are the main event for "WrestleMania 29" April 7 in East Rutherford, NJ.
