Phillies Hooters Ball Girl Catches Fair Ball: Spring Training 2013 Phillies Vs. Tampa Bay Rays Game, Grapefruit League Game Interrupted [VIDEO]

Baseball is "America's Pastime" and as long as the sport has been played in America's ballparks, it seems that ball girls and ball boys have been accidentally picking up live baseballs. This is what happened during a Spring Training game in Clearwater, Florida Saturday between the Philadelphia Phillies and Tampa Bay Rays when a Hooters ballgirl accidentally picked up a live ball hit by the Rays Shelley Duncan.

Luckily, it was just a Spring Training game, so it didnt' really count. However ball girls and ball boys seem to get caught in this embarrassing moment at least a few times a year. In defense of the Hooters ball girl, her heart was in the right place. After the fair ball was hit down the line almost directly at her, she made a nice play scooping the ball up. She immediately found a young fan she could hand the ball to. Imagine that lucky boy. He not only gets a baseball from the game, but it was handed to him by a Hooters girl!

In the video you can see she at first didn't realize what she had done. You can tell fans were shouting in the stands telling her the mistake she made. She then realized the mistake and looked rather embarrassed. The girl, who was only identified as "Priscilla" by the Tampa Bay Times, still made a nice play. Throughout the baseball season you will often see bloopers on ESPN of ball girls and ball boys slipping and missing balls hit their way.

In the past, this ball girl may have been able to get away with making the mistake, but now thanks to YouTube, over a million people have seen the video. For now "Priscilla" may have to deal with the embarrassment, but don't worry, a ball girl or boy is likely to make the same mistake soon and they will be on YouTube.
