Conor Mcgregor is Sherdog's 2015 Fighter Of The Year after it took him only 13 seconds to defeat his great rival, long-reigning champion Jose Aldo, in UFC 194 on December 13. The Aldo and McGregor fight was highly anticipated as the two rivals were already talking trash way before the actual fight and they showed how much they hated each other during the weigh in.
Many wondered if the challenger could walk the talk.
The 27-year-old Irish featherweight waited more than 12 years for his chance at the UFC title and he proved to everyone that he only needed 13 seconds to win it.
Aldo’s 18-fight winning streak and nearly five-year UFC featherweight title reign came to a screeching halt when McGregor caught him with a perfect left punch and left him out cold.
Commentator Joe Rogan noticed a more relaxed McGregor while the 29-year-old champ looked like the pressure was getting to his head.
Aldo charges and lands a punch, but McGregor connects clean and knocks him out with the very first punch. That's it! McGregor took just 13 seconds to inflict Aldo's first defeat in ten years to claim the featherweight title.
Most UFC fans did not see this coming, with some believing Aldo would come out on top. But McGregor had other ideas and lived up to the billing as UFC's man of the moment.
After the fight, the normally aggressive McGregor showed class in victory, even after the name calling and the trash talking, he showed respect to his opponent and believed that he deserved a longer fight.
That said, he assured that he will still come on top even if the fight lasted for more than 13 seconds.
Conor McGregor's 13-second win pushed Ronda Rousey's 14-second win to second place.
