Brooklyn trio Flatbush Zombies and fellow Beast Coast members The Overachievers have released an audacious new track called "No Religion" where they take on sacred cows, both literal and figurative.
The hallucinogenic-loving, spirituality-touting Zombie rappers Meechy Darko and Zombie juice rap over the trademark gritty beats of producer Erick Arc Elliot, covering everything from copius drug use to chakras.
"Stop trying to be Tupac, try to be better / Your chakras is clogged, bitch, raise your energy level / Your weapons is flawed from the barrels to the levers." they say.
If the claim that being better than Tupac wasn't sacrilegious enough, the chorus trades out the legendary MC's name with Jesus the second time around. Check out the track below.
This isn't the first time that the rappers have shown a disregard for organized religion. Meech started off his guest verse on the A$AP Mob hit "Bath Salt" with the line "The highest high, I'm Ayatollah."
The Zombies have been buzzing ever since releasing the underground music video hit "Thug Waffle." Since then they have rode their thematic mixture of higher powers and just really f***in high to critical acclaim.
Nothing sums up the overall idea of the Flatbush Zombies better than the title of their first mixtape D.R.U.G.S., which stands for Death and Reincarnation Under God's Supervision.
