Judge Judy is reportedly being sued over some very pricey dishes that she allegedly bought from one of her producers, Fox News reports.
Television's most famous judge, Judith Sheindlin, is now involved in a lawsuit, outside of her own court room, that is accusing the TV show's producer Randy Douthit and "Judge Judy" of entering into a fraudulent scheme to cheat Douthit's ex-wife Patric Jones out of her expensive Christofle china and flatware in Douhit's divorce settlement.
According to TMZ, Jones alleges in the suit, filed by Beverly Hills attorney Perry Wander, that Douthit sold Judy the used fine china for $50,000, without her knowledge or consent, when it is valued at more than $500,000. Jones claims Judy knew fully well that the deal was revenge against her.
Further, Jones claims Randy agreed to reduce his profit participation in the "Judge Judy" show so that he wouldn't have to pay out as much money in the divorce settlement.
Now the producer's wife wants either the china or the $500,000 from Judge Judy, as she lays it all out on the table.
What does the outspoken TV Judge have to say about this messy situation?
"I have not seen any complaint by the former Mrs. Douthit, however, I don't owe this lady a cent," she said. "And if this 50-year-old woman would spend her time more productively at trying to find a job, instead of abusing the judicial system with frivolous lawsuits, we would all be a lot better off."
Jones' lawyer, however, has a different message: "In California, which is a community property state, sales of community property assets are voidable if both parties do not consent. And my client did not consent to this sale."
As stated on the Judge Judy website, "Smart, savvy and opinionated, the irrepressible Judge Judith Sheindlin continues to hold court as presiding judge on JUDGE JUDY, which has been the #1 show in daytime for two consecutive seasons. Additionally, JUDGE JUDY, was the #1 show in first-run syndication for the 2010-11 season... JUDGE JUDY is a Big Ticket Television production and is distributed by CBS Television Distribution."
Judge Judy can certainly "dish it out" to the plaintiffs in her own televised court room, but will she be the one forking over the money in this bizarre case brought against her?
