From creators Damon Lindelof and Tom Perrota, the Season 2 of The Leftovers is gaining critical acclaim for HBO. Justin Theroux (Kevin Garvey), Christopher Eccelston (Matt Jamison), Carrie Coon (Nora Durst) and more have earned nominations from the 2016 Critics Choice Awards.

As we mentioned before, in the second season finale, members of the Guilty Remnants marched across the bridge into the town of Jarden. It was suspenseful hour of miracles as Matt (Christopher Eccelston) discovered his paralyzed wife, Mary (Janel Moloney) walked and talking again. While the town was taken over by the cult, Kevin fought his way through Purgatory, singing Simon and Garfunkel's "Homeward Bound," order to return to the land of the living. As John (Kevin Carroll) witnessed his family fall apart, Kevin found himself reunited with his entire family, who were broken after the Departed.

According to TV Line, the nominations list for the 2016 Critics' Choice Television Awards has been released were. The HBO drama earned itself impressive six nominations, including best series. Paratactically everyone in the ensemble cast, lead actor (Theroux), lead actress (Coon), supporting actor (Eccleston) and supporting actress (both for Ann Dowd and Regina King).

In an interview with The Atlantic, Theroux discusses Kevin's growth as a character, "I think his journey is, literally, to be home. I think in the first season he makes this absurd but desperate wish to have his family back, and the second season you could argue that the same thing happens but it does feel different in that he gets it in spades with everyone coming back to him, for better or worse. It's sort of the "wherever you go, that's where you are" thing."

We also mentioned, The Leftovers has been renewed for a third and final season. Don't forget to check out our MStars interview with author Tom Perrota about the sophomore season.

The second season of The Leftovers can currently be seen on HBO On Demand.
