Los Angeles rapper Tyler, the Creator, announced that he will be giving out free tickets for his first solo show at Fox Theatre in Boulder, March 11. A 2000- strong crowd lined up for the tickets and the situation went out of control and the police had to be called in to help maintain order. This took place before the rapper took the stage.
Local reports suggest that a brawl between a local businessman and an inebriated fan led to the chaos. The businessman was beaten up leading to the arrest of one man, Contactmusic reported.
But Boulder police spokeswoman, Kim Kobel claimed that no one was assaulted during the crowd unruliness. About 80 officers from the Boulder Police Department, University of Colorado Police Department and the Boulder County Sheriff's Office were roped in to control the crowd, HipHopWired reported.
The tickets were being sold on a first-come, first-serve basis and HipHopBlog reported about the crowd getting disruptive after three hours of waiting.
The rapper tried to calm down his aggressive fans proposing an additional show at the same venue, He tweeted, "Two shows tonight so everyone can come guys."
Brain Carp, the operational manager of Fox Theater said, "This is the reason we normally don't do free shows." The Fox Theater can hold only 625 people. And this is the first time after five years that a free show was being conducted at Fox Theatre.
The rapper is all set to drop his third solo album "Wolf," April 2, his first album was titled "Bastard" that was out in 2009 and his second was "Goblin" that he dropped in 2011.
