It may not be "tool time," but it is a mini "Home Improvement" reunion as cast members Jonathan Taylor Thomas & Tim Allen will soon appear together again on the set of Last Man Standing.
US Weekly reports that, fifteen years after ending his run as Tim Allen's second-oldest son on the 1990s sitcom Home Improvement, Jonathan Taylor Thomas is reuniting with his former TV dad on Allen's new show, Last Man Standing. Although Jonathan's appearance was previously reported last month, the air date was finally revealed along with pictures of JTT on set.
The former '90s heartthrob will appear on the series on Friday, March 22. According to ABC's official description of the episode, titled "College Girl," Thomas plays a successful, hip restaurateur who once worked with Allen's TV daughter Kristin (Amanda Fuller).
JTT, now 31-years-old, may have taken a hiatus from TV since his last one time appearance in Veronica Mars back in 2005, but our "Tiger Beat" & "Bop" cover boy is finally back and all grown up.
Looking at the pictures of the actor on the set, it is clear to see that little "Randy Taylor" is now all grown up. The stills show Jonathan as a (hot) mature adult, donning a sleek suit and tie, along with a pair of glasses.
As US Weekly notes, JTT has come a long way since his days as Allen's TV son in the sitcom Home Improvement. Since leaving the show in 1998, he has studied at both Harvard University and Columbia University, where he got his degree in 2010.
Adopting a low profile in recent years, in Thomas' interview with Entertainment Weekly back in 2011, he revealed what he's been up to after falling off the radar:
"I've been going to school, and traveling quite a bit, getting to read a lot of books I've wanted to for quite some time. I think at this point, I'd eventually like to work behind the camera. That's not to say I would never act again, I'm not quite sure to be honest. I still have a passion for TV and film could see myself working in it."
When asked about Tim Allen's new family comedy by EW, JTT stated, "One of the things Tim does very well - besides being downright hilarious - is how he is able to present the complexities of relationships with children and spouses in a deeply humane way. Your instinct is to root for this guy and connect with him."
Clearly fond of his previous on-screen dad, Thomas must be excited to guest star on "Last Man Standing," as he returns to his rightful place in front of the cameras.
Don't miss JTT back in action on Friday March 22 at 8 PM on ABC.
