The Arsenal Gunners travel to Bayern Munich to try and come back from a two-goal deficit to make it to the quarterfinals of the UEFA Champions League tournament. Bayern is one of the favorites in the competition and disappointing performances from Arsenal make success seem daunting. Even head coach, Arsene Wenger, feels that his team will go away with a loss.
Plus Arsenal is missing Jack Wilshere, Bacary Sagna, Lukas Podolski and Wojciech Szczesny, making this quest for success all but hopeless. If they managed to do so, however, it would be an incredible shock and go down in the history books as such. Also, Arsenal has not played a match since losing to the Tottenham Hotspurs on March 3. Wnger understands why people have labeled this game "Mission Impossible" and might be content with leaving the Champions League tournament early to focus on other endeavors for his Gunners.
Bayern manager, Jupp Heynckes, is not counting his opponent out just yet. The tough coach said of his competition: "I have no interest in dividing up the skin before I kill the bear. My team is not listening to those saying we are the best team in Europe at the moment." Munich will be missing a few key players, however. Franck Ribery is injured and Bastian Schweinsteiger and Jérôme Boateng are both suspended.
Heynckes has also shared his opinion on Wenger, saying, "Talented players have come in but for every manager it is essential that if you want to play at the absolute top level, for Bayern Munich, for Barcelona, for Real Madrid, you have to have the players to do that. At Arsenal, maybe it has been a bit more difficult for Arsène Wenger. For me, in the last 10-15 years, he has been one of the best managers in Europe. He is a few years younger than me. I would be very sad if he was not actively involved any more but I imagine he will continue."
