Adam Sandler & Drew Barrymore Co-Star Together Again in New Romantic Comedy Movie; "The Wedding Singer," "50 First Dates" Couple Pair Up for a 3rd Time

Our favorite on-screen comedic couple is back together again! 50 First Dates co-stars Adam Sandler & Drew Barrymore will find love in a new Warner Brothers romantic comedy movie, The Hollywood Reporter has confirmed.

This will be the third time that the couple is pairing up together, as Sandler and Barrymore previously co-headlined 1998's The Wedding Singer and 2004's 50 First Dates, both of which were considered box office successes according to NME.

This new untitled "rom-com" that revolves around the fallout from a disastrous blind date, reports Variety, and will be directed by the frequent Sandler & The Wedding Singer director Frank Coraci. The project is being produced by Mike Karz and Sandler's Happy Madison shingle.

Based on a 2007 pitch that was originally called Blended, this mixed-family new movie centers on a dating couple who get trapped at a family holiday resort where their kids from previous relationships are staying. Sandler has been attached to star for some time and last month (February), it was reported that Barrymore was "frontrunner" for the female lead, states NME.

The Never Been Kissed star's role has now been confirmed by Variety and will begin shooting this May.

The Guardian states:

Both Sandler and Barrymore will be returning to familiar ground in the hope of reviving acting careers that have slipped into fallow territory. Sandler is a regular Razzie winner but, unusually, his most recent comedy, "That's My Boy", also fared poorly at the box office, while Barrymore hasn't headlined a financially successful movie since the 2007 romcom "Music and Lyrics" opposite Hugh Grant. She did, however, make a successful foray into directing with the well-received roller derby comedy "Whip It" in 2009 and was part of the ensemble for the box office hit "He's Just Not That Into You" the same year.

With Barrymore co-starring in Sandler's new movie, the untitled rom-com now has a fighting chance at being a success, which the Happy Gilmore actor severely needs since it's been awhile. Drew starred in Sandler's two best reviewed comedies to date (The Wedding Singer & 50 First Dates).

The chemistry is undeniable in their previous two movies together, and hopefully this third time will be a charm for the Hollywood actors as well.
