50 Shades of Grey Movie Casting News UPDATE: Ian Somerhalder Talks Christian Grey with Andy Cohen, 'Many Young Boys Up for the Role,' Too Old? [VIDEO]

During a recent interview on Bravo's hit after-show "Watch What Happens Live," Christian Grey fan-favorite Ian Somerhalder talks "Fifty Shades" casting rumors with host, Andy Cohen! The sexy "Vampire Diaries" heartthrob isn't afraid to shy away from showing keen interest in the role... he claims that E.L. James' popular erotica story is indeed an interesting one and that any guy lucky enough to snag the lead is sure to have lots of fun on the movie set! Somerhalder also muses that "There are many young boys up for the role" - does this mean the 34-year-old actor understands that he might be too old to play the handsomely charming and seductive Mr. Grey? What do "Fifty Shades" fans think... does Somerhalder's age really matter when it comes swooning the young and "innocent" Anastasia Steele?

On a recent episode of "Watch What Happens Live," Andy Cohen brings up the fact that Somerhalder is a hot contender to snag the highly-coveted role of Christian Grey in the upcoming film adaptation of "Fifty Shades of Grey." Instead of simply overlooking the question (like several other fan-favorites), Somerhalder actually provides an answer:

"I think they have a very big job ahead of them, casting this role... So, I can't say anything other than, it's a very interesting story and whoever plays that role is going to have a lot of fun rehearsal time."

Cohen immediately exclaims to the audience, "I think that means he's doing it, you guys."

But Somerhalder is also very reasonable in his answer... he understands that a slew of other actors are currently being "considered" for the role. And most of them fit the age description of the kinky Mr. Grey a whole lot better. The former "Lost" star's already 34 - Grey is only supposed to be 27 at the start of the "Fifty Shades" trilogy.

Do fans think Somerhalder's age could really hurt his chances of starring in "Fifty Shades of Grey?"
