Kobe Bryant suffered his "worst injury in the last 13 seasons" last night when he sprained his ankle coming down from a jump shot onto Dahntay Jones' foot. During the fourth quarter of the heated game in Atlanta between the hometown Hawks and the Los Angeles Lakers, Bryant tried to get in a fade away jumper but missed and then came down hard. After x-rays came back showing the sprain, Bryant became irate with Jones, calling his playing "dirty and dangerous."
In an e-mail to Yahoo! Sports, Bryant explained how he believed that Jones intentionally slid his foot into the space where Kobe was coming down from the shot:
"[Dahntay Jones] threw his hip and lower body into mine on the shot. That's a foul with 100 percent certainty. Dirty and dangerous play. Doesn't belong in the game."
When asked if he would be playing in tomorrow's game against the Indiana Pacers, Bryant said he did not know and also called upon officials for not protecting the players.
In his own defence, Dahntay Jones took to Twitter, saying:
Tape doesn't lie. Ankle was turned on the floor after the leg kick out that knocked him off balance. I would never try to hurt the man

Leg kick that makes contact with a defensive player is an offense foul. Period. The nba changed that rule 2 yrs ago. Stop it! — Dahntay (@dahntay1) March 14, 2013
I have the utmost respect for @kobebryant I would never try to intentionally hurt him. Just wanted to contest the fadeaway #thatsall
