Shahid Kapoor's Role in Vishal Bhardwaj’s 'Rangoon' Revealed!

Bollywood star Shahid Kapoor will be seen in the role of a soldier in director's Vishal Bhardwaj's period drama Rangoon, revealed Shahid's sister Sanah Kapoor.

Sanah, who made her Bollywood debut by starring alongside her brother and father Pankaj Kapoor in Shaandaar, praised Shahid's new look for Rangoon. Shahid has remained mum whenever any reporter asked about his role in Rangoon. But this is not a case with his sister Sanah. According to Zee News, at a recent Stardust Awards show, Sanah revealed Shahid's role.

"He is looking smart. He has got the soldier look because he is playing a soldier in the film. I am very excited to watch him," Sanah said.

Rangoon will be Shahid and Bhardwaj's third collaboration to date. Earlier, the duo collaborated for 2009 Kaminey for which the actor was nominated for the Best Actor at the Filmfare Awards and later in 2014 for Haider, for which he won the Filmfare Award for the Best Actor.

According to Indian Express, the 34-year-old actor will be sharing screen with Queen actress Kangana Ranaut and Phantom actor Saif Ali Khan in Rangoon. In the period drama film, which is set against the backdrop of the World War II, Ranaut will be playing the role of a 1940s royal lady. The actress has been training hard in ballet and horse riding and said that the preparations have left her physically exhausted.

"Haddi Pasli Ek ho gayi hai. The horse riding, ballet and other activities are physically demanding," Ranaut added.

Bhardwaj earlier confirmed that Rangoon will be one of his most expensive film to date and will also be musical. According to Bollywood Hungama, Bhardwaj revealed that Rangoon will showcase the story of those Indian soldiers who died at World War II. On the other hand, Khan has earlier worked with Bhardwaj in Omkara, but he has never shared screen with Shahid.  

The film is slated to release on Oct. 14, 2016.
