Gareth Bale was spotted with his feet in the sand sipping on a beverage with a tiny umbrella in it. At least, that's what it must have felt like. The Real Madrid superstar scored four goals on Sunday, playing a large part in Madrid's 10-2 trouncing of Rayo Vallecano.

As a reminder, this is soccer, a sport often chastised for its lack of goal scoring. If you are a soccer fan and hate hearing this out-dated complaint, just reference this game. You can tell them that's 70-14 in American football.

With that said, the wild scoreline wasn't an entirely accurate depiction of the match. The away side actually lead momentarily, 2-1, after Jozabed scored in the 12th minute. However, moments later, Rayo Vallecano received the first of their two red cards when Tito was sent off for a bad tackle on Toni Kroos. They would double their trouble some ten minutes later when Raul Baena was given a second yellow card for taking down Sergio Ramos in the box. Cristiano Ronaldo would convert the penalty, making it 3-2 in the 30th minute, effectively making the match a grossly unfair pick-up game with friends.

Bale scored four, Karim Benzema scored three, Ronaldo added two, and Danilo registered one. There were so many neatly wrapped goals that it was basically Christmas day. Bale echoed the sentiment, taking to Instagram posting a picture of himself holding up a signed game ball, captioning the post, "The perfect Christmas present."

Bale and company now head into a 10-day Christmas break--a period of time that will undoubtedly see its fair share of player and manager speculation. And while not everybody is happy with Madrid's recent performances--which shows just how ridiculously high the standards are--they sit just two points back of league leaders Barcelona.

Merry early Christmas from Madrid, everybody.
