Madonna went to court on Wednesday as part of a custody battle, after her 15-year-old son Rocco Ritchie refused to board a plane from London to New York. A judge ordered Rocco to return home to New York despite him wanting to spend the holidays with his father, Guy Ritchie, in London. It seems, even celebrity parents aren't above sticking their children in the middle of fights with exes.

Ritchie's lawyer, Eric Buckley, stated the teenager wanted to spend the holidays with his father. Buckley told the judge, "He has expressed very clearly that he does not want to return to New York."

Fox News reports that Madonna’s son is tired of being on tour with his mother for the past two months. The singer has been traveling the world as part of her Rebel Heart Tour.

An insider said, "The boy said he didn’t want to stay with her. He’s not getting along with his mom, which is not a surprise for a child that age."

The singer told Entertainment Weekly in August that Rocco would be touring with her. She said, "I think he’s probably gonna work behind the scenes. He’s not interested in performing on stage with me right now. There’s way cooler things."

Justice Deborah Kaplan ordered Rocco to return to his mother, but stated that Rocco will be appointed his own court attorney to discuss his living preferences with his parents. This is something judge's often do in order to try to prevent children from being used as pawns in fights between the parents.

Madonna's ex-husband's lawyer was asked by the judge if the filmmaker had prevented his son from returning to the United States. His attorney replied, "Effectively yes."

Madonna and Ritchie have been told by the judge not to discuss the custody issue with Rocco.

She told the singer, "I'm granting you all the relief you have requested. I'm directing the child to be returned to New York. If he wants to stay with his father, he must return to his mother (first)."

Madonna and Ritchie married in 2000 and divorced in 2008. The couple share son Rocco, as well as their 10-year-old adopted son David Banda.

The singer has a 19-year-old daughter, Lourdes Leon, with Carlos Leon. She also has an adopted 9-year-old daughter named Mercy James.

Ritchie has three children with his wife; model Jacqui Ainsley, who he married in July 2015.
