You read that headline right. The-Dream, he raps now apparently.

On top of the "Falsetto" singer's apropos of nothing idea to sling rhymes, the new track "TRON" has two more things I never thought I'd see together. A crazy, frenetic, snare and synth backing track that is the Surge cola of beats and screwed-up, Houston-y, sizzurp-laced vocals.

My already reeling mind is pushed to its breaking point when The-Dream ramps it up a notch via a blistering verse toward the end of the song, while still maintaining the syrup effect. It makes no sense, but this song is so good it doesn't need to.

The-Dream's new album IV Play (Get it?) drops May 7 on Def Jam.
