Are Van Halen rocker Eddie Van Halen and rapper LL Cool J about to embark on one of the strangest collaborations in music history? Well it looks like the legendary guitarist and co-founder of Van Halen may be working alongside the hip-hop star. At the very least it looks like Eddie may be helping out LL Cool J with his new album. Eddie tweeted the picture below with the caption "Authentic 4.30.13." April 30 is the release date of LL's new album.
As you can see below, the two music industry legends seem to be serious about busting out some new rhymes. Either that or they are just good friends and they are hanging out in the music studio with no intention of recording any music together.
The possibility of a collaboration has fans very excited, and for good reason. The rocker and hip-hop artist working together is a dream alliance for their fans.
Fans tweeted at Eddie (@eddievanhalen) letting him know their enthusiasm for the pairing. One fan tweeted, "@eddievanhalen @JanieVanHalen @llcoolj Love this! Can't wait to hear the song!" Another tweeted, "@Slash9899 @eddievanhalen let's hope so! Ed looks very healthy and his playing is at its best ever. Good time to record!"
This is potentially exciting news for Van Halen fans who got disappointing news from the band's manager Irving Azoff recently. There were rumors the band was going on a European tour this summer, but Azoff denied any plans of a summer tour. When speaking to Billboard, Azoff said, "the announced dates, which include the date in Australia, the dates in Japan and a date in Wisconsin, are confirmed and on sale and those are real. I manage the Van Halens, and I know nothing about any European tour."
David Lee Roth went on the "Opie and Anthony Show" earlier this week and said the band would be doing 50 to 60 shows outside the U.S.. However it seems that Roth may have been jumping the gun.
Music fans, are you more excited about Van Halen touring or the possibility of a LL Cool J, Eddie Van Halen collaboration?
