Ryan Seacrest & Julianne Hough Split Up: Busy Work Schedules Cause Couple to Take a Break After 2 Years Together

American Idol season may be putting too much stress on Ryan Seacrest's relationship, as the show's host has split up with former girlfriend and actress/dancer Julianne Hough!

After dating for more than two years, Seacrest, 38, and Hough, 24, have "amicably" decided to take a break and are currently living apart, sources close to the couple confirm to PEOPLE.

The sources added that both of their busy work schedules proved to be a great challenge for the two celebrities. As Ryan Seacrest tends to his duties on the newest season of Fox's American Idol, Julianne is busy working on a new dancing show with her brother Derek. The former couple reportedly decided that they need time apart to work on their own ventures.

However, there are supposedly no hard feelings between the pair, according to E!, as they are still in "regular contact" and remain friends.

Ryan & Julianne have spoken in the past about juggling a career and a relationship:

"It's a hard thing to do, especially when you're so caught up in your work and bettering yourself," Hough recently told PARADE. "I think at the end of the day you have to find a balance with what's really important."

Ryan & Julianne apparently couldn't perform the balancing act any longer and chose their other priorities over their relationship.

This hasn't been an easy week for the "Footloose" star who recently had $100,000 worth of jewelry stolen from her parked car. The missing goods also happened to be expensive gifts from her now ex-boyfriend Seacrest, notes NY Daily News. Could this unfortunate incident be another cause contributing to the couple's need for time apart?

Additionally, reports reveal that Seacrest was extremely silent when questioned about a possible upcoming wedding with Hough earlier this month. The AI host dodged the queries about his love life, which should have been a sign that the couple was on the rocks.

The stars' publicists have yet to comment on the recent split up.
