Entertainment Weekly is providing readers with a first look at Marvel's Doctor Strange. Landing on the cover, before the premiere of Sherlock Season 4 coming up, Benedict Cumberbatch casts his magic as The Sorcerer Supreme.
As we previously mentioned, the Sherlock actor himself will play Doctor Stephen Vincent Strange. The story follows the ex-neurosurgeon as he struggles to move forward from a horrific car accident. After discovering the hidden world of magic and alternate dimensions, Strange trains himself to become the Sorcerer Supreme.
According to IGN, the Sherlock actor can be seen as the Marvel superhero in the latest issue of Entertainment Weekly. This is a very early peek at production since principal photography on the film began last November. Director Scott Derrickson is expected to wrap production until March. The upcoming issue will also reveal who Rachel McAdams (True Detective) and Mads Mikkelsen (Hannibal).
In full costume, Cumberbatch describes bringing the comic book character to life to EW, "It was like, okay, I've got to keep throwing these poses, these spells, these rune-casting things, everything he does physically. I'm thinking, there's going to be a huge amount of speculation and intrigue over the positioning of that finger as opposed to it being there, or there. And I'm still working on that. We haven't played any of those scenes yet. I felt really self-conscious. But, then, by the end, it was great. It's like anything, you just have to experiment."
