DC's Legends of Tomorrow premieres in about a month, which means the spoilers will start rolling in more frequently. The latest news is that the spinoff series has cast Ali Liebert as a potential love interest for Caity Lotz's character of Sara Lance.
EW reports that Liebert, who has appeared on Fringe and Kyle XY, will play Lindsay Carlisle, a meek but intelligent woman who, on the surface, is perfectly suited for her life in the 1950s; however, she carries around the secret that she is a lesbian, which was not accepted in the time and place in which she lived. The lonely Lindsay seems destined to live without love, but then Sara Lance pops back in time and everything changes.
"At the start of this episode, we find Sara Lance completely out of place, both in time and place, visiting 1958 'Pleasantville, America' - and also out of place emotionally," executive producer Phil Klemmer tells EW. "After Sara was brought back from the dead on Arrow, she hasn't been herself - she's been consumed by a quest for bloodshed and incapable of having romantic feelings for anyone. The strict social norms of the fifties makes this the last place Sara Lance would ever expect to find love with a young, closeted nurse, but that's how love works - it finds you."
In the Arrow chronology, Sara was first romantically involved with Oliver Queen (Stephen Amell) even though Ollie was dating her sister, Laurel Lance (Katie Cassidy). Because of this, she wound up on the ill-fated boat with Oliver and ultimately wound up on the island of Lian Yu.
During a fight with Slade Wilson (Manu Bennett), who eventually became Deathstroke, Sara was pulled out to sea by a current and drifted until she came into contact with the League of Assassins. There, she trained to be a fighter and fell in love with Nyssa (Katrina Law), the daughter of Ra's al Ghul, the leader of the league.
She then dated Oliver once again when she returned to Star City, but her love for Nyssa persisted. Since Sara's resurrection, however, Nyssa has distanced herself from her former love, as she is horrified by her unnatural return.
"When Sara first meets Lindsay Carlisle, she finds herself in the position of caring about someone for the first time in forever - an idea she's not entirely sure she's ready for," Klemmer said. "It's easy for our cold hearted assassin to kill a hundred people, but does she have the ability to care about one?"
