Jennifer Lopez Starts 2016 with a Bang With a Sizzling TV Guide Magazine Cover!

Jennifer Lopez heated things up this week with a sizzling TV Guide Magazine cover serving up her face and a bit of cleavage. JLo is starting 2016 with a bang and declaring it her time to shine. To kick the New Year off, catch Jennifer Lopez in the new NBC drama, Shades of Blue on January 7.

"Jenny from the Block" is back in a major way. Expect to see a lot more of the American Idol judge on TV this winter with her new role as Detective Harlee Santos in the NBC Original, Shades of Blue. This is the first time that the Grammy nominated singer and dancer will step into the dramatic television realm. Her character, Harlee, is a single mother and witty Brooklyn detective that works alongside Lieutenant Matt Wozniak (Ray Liotta) to bend the rules a bit to protect their precinct. She is caught in the act by the FBI and forced to work as an informant in order to keep her freedom.

In an interview with TV Guide, Lopez compares her character Harlee to her actual self and says she can completely relate. "I really do know the world that Harlee lives in," Lopez says. "I lived in the Bronx, and if I didn't dream of becoming a performer and a singer and I had decided to be a cop, she is who I would be right now. I have those kinds of street smarts. I know what it's like to walk these streets and neighborhoods."

Lopez has declared 2016 her year as she plans to be an all-star balancing act. She signed a two-year, $26 million contract at the Axis, Planet Hollywood in Las Vegas for the "All I Have" residency performance starting January 20. In addition, J.Lo will also maintain her role as an executive producer on the ABC Family/Freeform drama, The Fosters. Finally, she will maintain her role as a judge on the final season of American Idol premiering January 6.
