"Twilight" lovebirds Kristen Stewart and Robert Pattinson could probably crawl up together under a rock in the middle of the desert, and pop media would still manage to spread vicious lies and rumors about their "struggling" relationship. And according to "Twilight" author Stephenie Meyer, that's completely tragic. The popular authoress thinks it's ironic (and she even feels somewhat guilty) that these two young Hollywood stars must suffer such "superstardom" thanks to their infamous onscreen counterparts, Bella Swan and Edward Cullen. But do fans agree - should Meyer feel sorry about K-Stew and R-Patz's over-analyzed fame, or is it simply something that goes along with the job title?

In a recent interview with London's Sunday Times, Meyer explains both the positives and negatives of superstardom, especially in the case with Stewart and Pattinson:

"Here's the thing: there are some actors who are looking to be world famous, to be that household name, and although they might discover that there are a lot of negative things involved in that, it's what they want... But that doesn't apply to Kristen and Rob. That's what makes it kind of ironic and tragic."

Meyer continues with, "'I just don't think they enjoy the parts [of fame] that other people would. And I totally get that, because it would not be my thing either... If they had the choice, I've no idea if they'd even do Twilight again. I just don't know. I think this has all come at a heavy price."

Could "Twilight" fans picture Stewart and Pattinson NOT starring in the popular vampire/werewolf film franchise together?

According to Meyer, it's so much easier to work behind-the-scenes - and for that, she actually feels sort of guilty:

"It's created this nice, peaceful place for me. They took all of my heat, which I feel bad about."

Do readers think Meyer is being a little too hard on herself, or is the fame surrounding K-Stew and R-Patz indeed tragic?
