Bollywood couple, Aditya Roy Kapur and Shraddha Kapoor, who won the heart of every youth from India in Aashiqui 2, are going to share intimate scenes in the Hindi remake of the Tamil superhit, O Kadhal Kanmani, also known as OK Kanmani.
Written and Directed by Mani Ratnam, OK Kanmani featured Dulquer Salmaan and Nithya Menen in the lead roles, portraying a young couple in a line-in relationship in Mumbai. The film is said to be a reflection of the modern mindset of urban India, dealing with issues such as traditional values and marriage. Aditya and Shraddha will reprise the role of Salmaan and Menen in the Hindi remake of it. The Hindi adaptation of OK Kanmani is going to be produced by Karan Johar, who took to Twitter to announce the lead cast and the director of the film.

Aditya and Shraddha earlier collaborated in 2013 Indian musical romance film, Aashiqui 2, directed by Mohit Suri. Set in the early 2010s, Aashiqui 2 is a love story centering on the turbulent relationship between musician Rahul (played by Aditya) and Arohi (played by Shraddha), a relationship which is affected by Rahul's drinking problems. The soundtrack of the film received positive reviews from the music critics, who praised the songs "Tum Hi Ho" and "Sunn Raha Hai." According to Box Office India, Aashiqui 2 earned $16.4 million dollar against a budget of $1.3 million dollars and is considered as a blockbuster film of 2013.
After the enormous success of Aashiqui 2, reports started to surface online that Aditya and Shraddha are in a relationships but the stars never made their relationship official.
In OK Kanmani, the award winning trio, Shaad Ali (director), Gulzaar (lyricist) and A.R. Rahman (music director) will make a comeback after the 2002 superhit romantic film, Saathiya, that featured Vivek Oberoi and Rani Mukherji.
