But they are still the favorites to win the division and remain in the top eight, even with the loss. They begin the week one point behind Winnipeg with two games in hand."

The Rangers snag the no 4 spot in the Eastern Atlantic Conference, with a 13-12-2 record. The team ranks no 21 overall. As Burnside points out, "Still hard to get your head around the fact that the Rangers could miss the playoffs, but after being shut out by Pittsburgh on Saturday for their third straight loss, it's an image that's getting harder to ignore."
