The theatrical trailer for Airlift starring Akshay Kumar shows spectacular visuals of Kuwait and is full of emotions, actions and patriotism.
The makers of the Airlift recently released the official trailer for the film, which is based on the true incident of India's biggest human evacuation mission from Kuwait during the 1990 Gulf War. In the film, Kumar is seen playing the role of a powerful Indian businessman, who has established his business in Kuwait along with his wife (played by Nimrat Kaur).
The 3-minute trailer starts with a call to India's Ministry of External Affairs where Kumar, as Ranjeet Katiyal, wants to discuss the situation of all the Indians living in Kuwait and asking for India's help. But what Katiyal finds in the midst of the crisis is that he is surrounded by the politics and bureaucracy of the India and Kuwait. One Iraqi major is also shown in the trailer, who asks Katiyal to leave the country along with his family and not ruin his life in wasting social works but he chose to stay back until he could make favorable arrangements for all the Indians in Kuwait.
The story of Airlift follows the real incident when the evacuation mission was carried out from Aug. 13 to Oct. 11 1990, after invasion of Kuwait.
According to the Better India, Air India Airlines holds the Guinness Book of World Record for the most people evacuated by a civil airline as a result of this effort. The entire operation was carried out during the Persian Gulf War in 1990 to evacuate Indian expatriates from Kuwait and Iraq. It is also being said that this is the largest civilian evacuation in history as a total of 111,000 people were evacuated to Mumbai by operating 488 flights.
Directed by Raja Krishna Menon and produced by T-Series and Kumar's Hari Om Entertainment, the film is slated to release on Jan. 22, 2016.
