Katie Holmes Allure Magazine Cover Photo: Actress Opens Up About Tom Cruise, Suri, Becoming a Lawyer, Broadway Play 'Dead Accounts' Ends Early [VIDEO]

Katie Holmes aka Tom Cruise's ex wife is on the cover of the latest Allure magazine. The actress opens up to Allure in the magazine's April issue about her relationship with Cruise, their six-year-old daughter Suri, and her plans for 2013. Holmes has stayed out of the spotlight since her split from Cruise became public, but it was only a matter of time before Holmes found her way back to the front pages.

The 34-year-old posed in sexy swimwear and revealed some serious skin in the Allure magazine photo shoot. Holmes told Allure that she is hoping 2013 will be more "peaceful" than 2012, where the actress finally split from Hollywood movie star Tom Cruise after six years of marriage. Since finalizing her divorce from Cruise back in July, the actress has been living in New York City with the couple's daughter Suri Cruise.

Could the former "Dawson's Creek" actress be leaving acting for another profession? She told the magazine that she is interested becoming an attorney. "Well, my brother and father are attorneys, and -- we'll see," Holmes said. "I like the practical thinking of attorneys."

Holmes sounded reflective about the past year when she wished everyone a better year in 2013. Holmes said in the interview, "I hope this is a peaceful year for a lot of people in the world. When you look back on the last year, there were a lot of tragedies -- Hurricane Sandy, the Connecticut shooting. I just hope it's a good year for everyone."

Holmes also revealed in the interview that she is "open" to the idea of extending her family in the future. Could there be sisters and brothers coming for Suri? You can read the entire interview in Allure magazine when it goes on sale March 26.

Katie Holmes also just ended her brief return to Broadway. Her play "Dead Accounts" closed seven weeks ahead of schedule on January 6. It was originally scheduled to end February 24.
