Ellen DeGeneres might as well change her name to "DeGenerous!" Portia de Rossi's wife will be receiving the Favorite Humanitarian award at Wednesday's 2016 People's Choice Awards, as announced by producers on Monday.
In a statement, DeGeneres joked that the honor "sums me up perfectly as I am both a human and an itarian." But surely the Finding Dory star is happier about the prize that comes with the honor!

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the award also comes with a $200,000 donation to Walgreen's. DeGeneres chose St. Jude Children's Hospital to be its beneficiary.
Ellen DeGeneres might also receive another honor at the People's Choice Awards this year. The fan-voted show has nominated the If These Walls Could Talk 2 star for Favorite Talk Show Host.

DeGeneres has undoubtedly been one of the most philanthropic celebrities in Hollywood. As per Gossip Cop, Ellen has already donated millions to breast cancer awareness, as well as being a representative for Pink for the Cure.
In fact, DeGeneres loves helping those in need so much that she's constantly getting her The Ellen DeGeneres Show guests to play all sorts of games to help with charitable efforts.
Back in October, Ellen was able to get Heidi Klum to play "Stuff Your Cups" and help raise money for breast cancer research.
Ellen hasn't been solely focused on efforts for breast cancer, either. The former American Idol judge, along with Ben Affleck, launched the Small Change Campaign in an effort to benefit Feeding America.

Ellen is also known for her efforts in helping animals. DeGeneres started the Halo Pet Foundation to help eradicate animal abuse, in addition to working with the Humane Society.
The 2016 People's Choice Awards will be at the Microsoft Theatre in Los Angeles, California. The awards show will be televised, and is set to air on January 6 on CBS.
