On February 27, 2012, teen gunman TJ Lane opened fire on several classmates outside Ohio's Chardon High School, ultimately killing three and wounding three others. During Lane's court hearing appearance on Tuesday (March 18), the young killer showed little remorse for his tragic actions - he flaunted a homemade "killer" t-shirt, smiled during emotional testimony, and even flipped his middle finger at the judge and victims' family members after exclaiming "fu## all of you." Lane pleaded guilty to three counts of aggravated murder, two counts of attempted aggravated murder, and one count of felonious assault - he was sentenced to life without parole.
Because Lane was 17 at the time he committed the deadly crime, he could not face the death penalty. Going against the recommendations of his counsel, Lane decided to address the courtroom on Tuesday before the closing statement. He showed little respect or regret, constantly smiling and laughing during the somber proceedings while wearing a discourteous "KILLER" t-shirt. At one point during the hearing, Lane made a sexually obscene gesture before flipping off those in the courtroom and stating, "Fu## all of you."
WARNING: OFFENSIVE MATERIAL
Judge David L. Fuhry sentenced the teen to life in prison without parole due to his lack of remorse and motive.
Lane, who attended an alternative high school for students who don't perform well in traditional schools, allegedly opened fire outside the school while waiting for a bus last February. He shot and killed Daniel Parmertor (16), Demetrius Hewlin (16), and Russell King Jr. (17). Watch some of the victims' family members' emotional statements in court below:
Thoughts and condolences go out to the family and friends of the young victims involved in this sad and unfortunate tragedy.
