After a various amount of rumors spread that Kate Mansi is leaving her role as Abigail Deveraux on legendary daytime drama Days of Our Lives, the actress made it official that she is indeed exiting the show that made her famous. The soap star wrote a lengthy Instagram post thanking the show, cast, and fans for a great five years on the daytime drama which was her first big break on television.
"I've kept quiet as long as I could, but since it seems news has leaked, I feel I owe it to you all to set the record straight. Alright... here it is: After much thought, I've decided the timing was right for me to set sail from Salem," she wrote. "I must say that I have thoroughly enjoyed every single beautiful and messy moment of being Abigail, and will always treasure our time together. I want to be very clear in saying that this was not a decision I took lightly. It was important for me to see Abigail through the most recent storyline, as well as through the show's historic 50th anniversary celebration. I can confidently say that I poured everything I had into Abigail, especially this last year, and cannot wait for you to see what's coming!"

As MStars News reported, reports have been flying the last couple of days saying the actress already filmed her last scenes and they will air during the May sweeps period. We Love Soaps reported that a casting call was sent out for a character named "Val" that eerily resembled the characteristics of Abigail.

She was described as "passionate, intelligent and sensitive. Val blows into town in a whirlwind... She appears successful on the outside, a girl who seems to have it all but ... at times she has a fragility and [vulnerability] that gives us the feeling of a painful past that she desperately wants to keep secret."
What do you think about Kate leaving the show? Will you accept another person playing Abigail?
