This may be the final season of Melissa McCarthy's sitcom Mike & Molly, but fans can rest easy -- the Oscar nominee has a new pilot order from TV Land for a show called Nobodies with husband Ben Falcone.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, McCarthy and Falcone will executive produce and direct Nobodies, which was originally called Friends With Melissa. Falcone will guest star in the pilot, and McCarthy will appearing in a future episode if the series is picked up.
Deadline reports on the show's premise: Nobodies is based on the real-life experiences of writers Hugh Davidson, Rachel Ramras and Larry Dorf from improv group The Groundlings who see their friends become famous comedic stars while they still try to make it big.
The trio will play themselves on the show and hound their now-famous friends to star in their film. The pilot for the single-camera show will film this winter.
With McCarthy mostly behind the scenes on Nobodies, this will mark her first break from the small screen since 2000 (in addition to her role on Gilmore Girls, she was also on Christina Applegate's Samantha Who?). These days, McCarthy, an Emmy winner, is one of the biggest names in comedy on the big screen, starring in the reboot of Ghostbusters with Bridesmaids pal Kristen Wiig. She also launched a clothing line, Melissa McCarthy Seven7, last summer.
