As the Doctor Who season 8 finale episode, "Death in Heaven," came to an end this weekend, we were treated to a special appearance by maybe one of the best characters The Doctor has ever run into: Santa Claus. We learned this week the Doctor Who Christmas Special is currently filming and the supporting cast has been rounding out as well. We are less than a week away from the Doctor Who Christmas special, "The Time of the Doctor," which is also the final episode of Matt Smith's run as the eleventh Doctor on the hit BBC series. As is the case with any Doctor regenerations, fans are torn between the sadness of saying good-bye to a beloved actor and excited to welcome the new star (Peter Capaldi). This Christmas will usher in a new era for BBC's hit series Doctor Who, but also involves saying good bye to a beloved character: the eleventh regeneration of the Doctor, portrayed by Matt Smith.
