Before we get to the review in earnest, apologies for the lateness of this recap. Scorpion was pre-empted in the New York market on Monday night thanks to the Jets-Bills game that was moved to Monday night, so I couldn't watch the episode until Tuesday. Scorpion aired its latest episode, "Rogue Element," on Monday, and we finally got an episode devoted mostly to Cabe Gallo that explored his past and relationship with Walter. Your mileage may vary on the latest episode of Scorpion, entitled "Risky Business." The show is starting to do what I have been hoping it would since it started. It's developing the characters and turning them into more than just cardboard cutouts that dump technobabble and exposition. But your interest or lack thereof in the romantic elements of the show is what would cause you to enjoy or roll your eyes at what Scorpion is trying to do here. Read More »

After seven episodes, there are just some things I've come to accept and expect from Scorpion. There will be lots of technobabble. There will be some moments and plot points that stretch credibility just a bit too thin. And there will be some character moments to keep the whole thing from feeling completely pointless. Much of the focus of the first few episodes of Scorpion has been on Walter O'Brien's psyche and how he relates to the world around him. His beyond genius-level IQ allows him to solve problems other people could not, but it also prevents him from relating to other people and empathizing with them in a lot of ways. Read More »
Scorpion delivered perhaps its best episode to date this week with "Plutonium Is Forever," an episode that featured a suspenseful plot and a deeply personal conflict for Walter O'Brien. But unlike the previous episodes that have tried to give us a glimpse into Walter's psyche, this one actually worked. Read More »
Scorpion is now four episodes into its run, and the latest installment, "Shorthanded," tried to do something a little different from the first three. We got some decent character development on a few fronts and a departure from the format of the first three episodes. Read More »
Scorpion was back for its third episode this week as we continued to learn more about Walter, Paige and the rest of the team. Much like last week, this episode focused on character development, which is a welcome trend. But the show might be trying to rush to the finish line without taking us on the full journey. The second episode of CBS' new technological thriller Scorpion aired Monday night, and I came away from the second episode with much the same reaction I had after the first.
