New rumors around the cast of the 2016 Gareth Edwards movie Star Wars: Rogue One have popped up, with Netflix's Bloodline star Ben Mendelsohn, Nightcrawler actor Riz Ahmed, and The Hunger Games: Mockingjay hunk Sam Claflin being linked to the film. In a shareholders call this week, Disney CEO Bob Iger revealed some huge news concerning the next two chapters of the Star Wars universe. We learned that the first spin-off, standalone movie project in the Lucasfilm franchise officially has a name and a star! Academy Award nominee Felicity Jones will star in director Gareth Edwards' Star Wars: Rogue One. Iger also announced that Star Wars: Episode VIII, the sequel to J.J. Abrams' 2015 blockbuster The Force Awakens, would officially be written and directed by Rian Johnson (Looper, Brick) and would hit theaters on May 26, 2017. Abrams' 2015 blockbuster Star Wars: The Force Awakens, have been pretty sparse, with only rumors about the plot details, characters and casting popping up every once in a while.
