Just a day after industrial band Nine Inch Nails announced the title of its new album, released a new single and announced its Fall tour dates, guitarist Adrian Belew has reportedly left the band. creating a variety of unusual sounds, a quality that meshes with Nine Inch Nails tendency towards organized chaos. Reznor had cited Belew as important in the decision to reform Nails earlier this year. "I was working with Adrian Belew on some musical ideas," he said in a statement, "which led to some discussion on performing, which led to some beard-scratching, which (many steps later) led to the decision to re-think the idea of what Nine Inch Nails could be, and the idea of playing a show." Jeff Hanneman, founder and guitarist of the thrash metal band Slayer, died earlier ths month at the age of 49. Initial reports claimed that the rocker's death was a result of complications arising from an infectious spider bite Hanneman received years ago. But according to disease specialist Kent Sepkowitz, that's unlikely the case. Hanneman's fellow bandmates recently released a statement on Slayer's website, explaining that Hanneman actually passed away from the alcohol-related liver disease cirrhosis. Years of alcohol abuse and heavy drinking is what ultimately claimed Hanneman's life - not a spider. Read More »
