California Dreamin’: Still No NFL Team On L.A. Horizon

The NFL has been without a Los Angeles team since 1994, when the Raiders and Rams moved to Oakland and St. Louis. And it seems like rumors of a team returning to the City of Angels have existed ever since those squads left. For now, the city is still left waiting and wishing. NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell told "The New York Times" that a move to Los Angeles is still unlikely to happen all the way in the future of 2015. Meaning fans in SoCal will have to wait at least another year. "I'm not at the point where I would tell you that anything is imminent or that we have a solution identified at this point in time," Goodell told the Times. "There is progress, but we've all heard that before." The most likely teams to move to L.A. one day are the San Diego Chargers, Raiders or Rams, according to "Sports Illustrated." That's because all three can wiggle out of stadium leases next year, giving them flexibility to uproot. Real estate mogul Stan Kroenke, who owns the Rams, owns property in Los Angeles large enough for a stadium to be built. The Rams are also peeved about not being able to agree with their lender for plans to renovate the Edward Jones Dome in St. Louis, according to "Sports Illustrated." Read More »
